Spell for Clarity
Intention: To find clarity over a specific transition you are going through.
Materials: A dark vessel/bowl/pot full of water, ideally gathered from a natural source, a stone you feel somehow represents the life area that is in transition.
Process:
Discern a laser-focused intention for not only the life area you would like clarity on but also how you will know you have received this clarity. Is it feeling ready to make a decision? Is a sensation in the body that tells you definitely this or that? Name your proof that the spell has worked. Hold the tension of this knowing in your body while taking the stone in your hands. Charge the stone with this feeling.
Begin to repeat these words: I know what I must know. I see what I must see. I hear what I must hear. I am who I must be.
With your materials close, cast a circle. You might use this method or another that’s in your practice:
Face the North. Call your loving ancestors of the north, past and future, to come closer to your circle and witness you. To the north, to my seer ancestors, to the sacred energies of the Earth, I say welcome.
Face the East. Call your loving ancestors of the east, past and future, to come closer to your circle and witness you. To the east, to my seer ancestors, to the sacred energies of the Air, I say welcome.
Face the South. Call your loving ancestors of the south, past and future, to come closer to your circle and witness you. To the south, to my seer ancestors, to the sacred energies of the Fire, I say welcome.
Face the West. Call your loving ancestors of the west, past and future, to come closer to your circle and witness you. To the west, to my seer ancestors, to the sacred energies of the waters, I say welcome.
When you feel ready, return to the I know what I must know chant and place the stone inside your vessel of water. Fix your gaze on the stone and keep chanting.
Let the chant anchor your gaze. You can move your body, but do not take your gaze from the stone. Your mind will get loud; let it. Keep chanting and gazing. Soon, the optical illusions will start; there might suddenly be two stones or more, you might see strange colors or the whole vessel seem to levitate. Let all of this happen and keep going. Keep chanting and gazing for at least 20 minutes.
The “shift in consciousness” will be obvious when it happens. You will suddenly feel something that is akin to a deeper connection with this water, stone, with this practice as a whole. Some describe it as love or general belonging. When you feel this, it’s time to divine your message.
What do you see there in the water? What do you hear? Close your eyes when it feels right and notice what you see behind the lids. You may not know exactly what the answer means in this moment, but you do have an answer. This might be “white crow” or “shadow dragon.” Set the intention to know the meaning of the symbol within three days, to ask for a dream to gift you with the final clarity.
Open the circle by offering gratitude to the ancestors and elements from West, to South, to East, to North.
Place your hands on the ground. Breathe from low in the belly. Notice with all of your senses where you are. Come back to ground. What do you hear, see, smell, and feel? What tastes are on your tongue. Go for a wild walk and ponder your answer. Release the water to the land with gratitude and place the stone on your altar.
Let it be.
